Raising awareness in new environments

We encouraged families (using a little pester power) to make their homes and cars smoke free as part of a second-hand smoke awareness campaign for Smokefree Ealing.

Designed to trigger discussions between parents and children, we developed a family-friendly campaign for a diverse audience that communicated to people in different contexts, depending on their environment.

We created cartoon mascots to appeal to children, tailoring messages to highlight the dangers of smoking in the home and in the car. Kids’ activities, like colouring-in sheets and fortune-tellers, helped bring the dangers of smoking and second-hand smoke to the attention of parents.

And, as direct reminders to their parents, children could put up door hangers and stickers in their homes and cars. These were designed to start conversations about smoking and help families to take pride in their smoke-free environment.
