Making the NHS Health Check local

With over five years’ experience in NHS Health Check campaigns and more than 25 campaigns rolled out across the country, it was our understanding of the initiative that led us to work with Barnsley Council and roll out a new NHS Health Check campaign.

Focus groups we held with the target audience informed what we needed to say – and how we should say it – so that people would understand the importance of their NHS Health Check.

Then, to help local people identify with the campaign, we used an illustrative style showing local landmarks. We also drew on the hobbies and interests of the target audience to make the national screening programme relevant to the people we wanted to target.
