Boosting referrals

Our Time to quit campaign for Aintree University Hospitals and Southport and Ormskirk Hospital promoted a new stop smoking service and helped staff talk to their patients about quitting. Because the service was in hospital, we addressed patients and their visitors by focusing on the one thing patients have plenty of – time. Health professionals were also encouraged to do their bit by referring their patients to the service.

Following the launch, referrals Aintree’s stop smoking service went up by 60 per cent and Southport and Ormskirk’s increased by nearly half. Because of its overwhelming success, we pioneered the campaign in a box concept with Pfizer. It lets health teams launch high quality and consistent marketing for a campaign across the country. So far, Time to quit has rolled out in more than 30 hospitals.
